Frequently Asked Questions

Can I feed this to my cat or dog with a liver shunt?

Liver shunts vary in severity, always consult your veterinarian if you are concerned. We do have clients who give their liver shunt dogs Liver Guard successfully. We suggest introducing this product at suggested half daily feeding guideline, for a week, to see how it is tolerated.

What issues is Liver Guard good for?

To be given for 3 months of the year as a general liver and gut support and detoxifications. If you dog has a liver injury or disease, this product may be suitable.

Can I feed Liver Guard long term?

If your cat or dog’s liver is in need, such as injury or disease, then yes you can. If you are giving as a little health detox, we don’t suggest giving for no longer than 3 months at a time.

Can my cat take Liver Guard?

Yes, this product is designed with cats in mind too.

How long do I use Liver Guard for, after using a wormer?

We suggest the minimum of a month.

Is Liver Guard good to use after a surgery and how long for?

Yes, 6 weeks is a good guide time. Always consult with your veterinarian if you are concerned.

Can Liver Guard be given during periods of the year without any liver issues?

Yes, it can be given for 3 months of the year as a general liver and gut support and detoxifications.

Can I give Liver Guard alongside other MPN supplements?

We don’t suggest giving Liver Guard alongside MPN’s Itch Complex. Itch complex already contains a good amount of liver support. It wouldn’t be detrimental if you did, just unnecessary.

Is there a limit to the number of supplements I can give to my cat or dog?

We often say 3-4 supplements is about right, but every cat or dog is different. If your cat or dog has liver challenges and you are unsure, it is best to contact us on hello@mypetnutritionist.com.

My cat or dog is fussy; how do you suggest giving your supplements?

If your dog can swallow the size of the capsule, it’s best to wedge it in a nice juicy piece of meat or their favourite food. Adding to food, can spoil their eating experience and they may remember this for next time. Warming some bone broth (suitable for pets) and opening the capsule and adding the powder can be a clever way to disguise supplements.

What is the best way for Liver Guard to be given?

Liver Guard is best given with food, split between meals.

Does Liver Guard interfere with any of my pet’s medications?

Liver Guard aids liver metabolism so may interfere with many medications. You can still give Liver Guard, but we suggest giving it at least 2 hours away from administering medications.

When is Liver Guard not suitable for my cat or dog?

Possibly in a severe case of liver shunt. We often find a quarter to half recommended daily feeding guideline, should be suitable and helpful. Please always consult your veterinarian, if you are concerned.
